RLD is an award winning reflexology technique researched and developed by Sally Kay. The aim of RLD is to cause an effect on the body’s lymphatic system.
During RLD, specific points (reflexes) on the feet and hands are stimulated to encourage movement and drainage of the lymphatic fluid in the body.
Research has shown that it can help reduce lymphoedema. Lymphoedema is definded as tissue swelling due to failure of the lymphatic system.
This can be primary, for example a hereditary condition or secondary such as following and accident, injury, disease or specific treatment for example following cancer treatment and commonly breast cancer.
RLD may also be used to support clients with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. These include Arthritis, asthma, eczema, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, ME, sinus problems, migraines, headaches, muscular tension, aches and pains and premenstrual symptoms.
During an RLD session, if you have swelling in your arms or legs, you have the option to be measured before and after the treatment. This can be helpful to show how effective the RLD session is.
